MONROE - The Monroe High School boys tennis team dropped a dual match to Milton 6-1 on Tuesday.

The lone win for the Cheesemakers (1-8, 0-5 Badger South) came from Silas Setterstrom at No. 1 singles. The senior defeated Milton's Zach Richard 6-0, 6-0.

"Silas took home our lone win in a dominant win at No. 1 singles," Monroe coach Matt Bordner said. "We started out hot with our first two flights in both singles and doubles but lost some steam deeper into the matches."

At No. 2 singles, Milton's Mason Lebakken defeated Monroe senior Nick Baumann 2-6, 7-6 (2), 6-1.

"Nick Baumann had a really hard-fought match," Bordner said. "He had a chance to win it in the second set with a tiebreaker, but couldn't quite get the job done."

At No. 3 singles, the Red Hawks' Zach Miller beat Monroe's Nathan Smith 6-0, 6-0. Milton's Scott Meyer defeated the Cheesemakers' Quinn Walsh 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles .

At No. 1 doubles, the Red Hawks' Robby Boden and Neil Garcia defeated Monroe seniors Alex Tordoff and Ryan Peterson 7-6 (5), 6-1. Milton's No. 2 doubles team of Miles Stuckey and Sean Harvatine beat the Cheesemakers' senior duo of Ross Oxenrider and Jacob Kind 6-2, 6-3. At No. 3 doubles, Milton's Will Baumann and Brendan Sukus defeated the Cheesemakers' Scott Navarro and Ayden Bergemann 6-0, 6-0.

"Our doubles pairs continue to have some close sets, but we need to work on finishing our sets," Bordner said. "In the last week or so, we have really struggled with tiebreakers and closing out our tight matches. Against good teams, we have to finish out those close matches especially as we get closer to conference and subsectionals."
