Seniors power Glarner Knights

NEW GLARUS - The seniors for the New Glarus volleyball team made the difference on Senior Night as the Glarner Knights pulled out a thrilling five-set win over Cambridge Thursday night.

New Glarus senior Maddie Macht posted 23 kills, notched six aces and had 22 digs to lead the Knights to a 21-25, 25-23, 28-26, 20-25, 15-10 win.

With the win, New Glarus (11-15, 4-6 Capitol South) placed fourth in the conference.

"The girls had some ups and downs, but overall pulled out a big win," New Glarus coach Kelsey Schmit said. "An area of focus before our first regional game will be serving."

New Glarus senior Alex Nealis racked up 46 assists and senior Vanessa Narveson had 33 digs. Junior teammate Devon Boll had 13 kills and junior McKinley Righter had three blocks.

New Glarus will open Division 3 regional play hosting Parkview at 7 p.m. Tuesday.



Black Hawk 3,

Juda 0

JUDA - The Warriors quickly got past the Panthers 25-20, 25-16,

25-10.

Aleigha Sigafus led Black Hawk with 10 kills. Jordyn Delzer and Brooke Moore each had eight assists.

For Juda (12-8, 6-6 Six Rivers East), Sara Jordan had eight kills, and MacKenzie Byrne had four assists.

Juda, the No. 5 seed, will travel to fourth-seeded Williams Bay on Tuesday for a WIAA Division 4 regional semifinal, and Black Hawk, the No. 3 seed, will host sixth-seeded Monticello.



Argyle 3, Pecatonica 0

BLANCHARDVILLE - Argyle vwrapped up a conference championship with a sweep of Pecatonica.

Argyle sophomore Ashley Bruehlman had a team-high 11 kills, 16 digs, five aces and two blocks to propel the Orioles to a 25-24, 25-19, 25-22 win.

Pecatonica (11-6, 7-5

Six Rivers East) led 15-6 in the first set, but couldn't close it out.

"We have had some leads this year, but keeping it seems to be one of our downfalls," Pecatonica coach Tori Leonard said. "It's something we have struggled with. It's getting that experience. Ashley Bruehlman had a few kills and that really changed the momentum. Argyle had some good serves."

Argyle junior Kayla Butler-Paulson racked up 29 assists.

Pecatonica's Sam Mabin had a team-best nine kills. Junior teammate Liz Tisch dished out 17 assists and had 12 digs. Senior Britt Miller posted three blocks.

Tisch, Kailee Schraepfer and senior Clara Moen each had two aces.
