The Monroe football team hosted a scrimmage with New Glarus-Monticello, Evansville-Albany and Platteville on Friday featuring a new Wing-T offense.

"Most of the teams just want to get evaluations on their guys and not get anyone hurt," first-year Monroe coach Toby Golembiewski said. "It was pretty vanilla. We just wanted to come in and run our base plays."

Monroe's starting offense scored four touchdowns against New Glarus-Monticello. On the first play, Monroe senior running back Cole Murray bolted for a 35-yard TD. Senior fullback Isaac Allen then ripped off a 17-yard run. On the next play, senior quarterback Tyler Elmer hooked up with senior Alex Tordoff on a 17-yard TD pass.

Senior running back Jake Kind also scored on a 20-yard run.

Monroe kicks off the season at 7 p.m. Aug. 19 with a home game against Portage.
