RIVERDALE - The Darlington baseball team got off to a rocky start and lost its first Southwest Wisconsin Activities League game to Riverdale 9-4 Thursday.
Riverdale scored three runs in the first inning to take an early lead. Riverdale sealed the win with a three-run sixth.
Darlington senior Cole McDonald went 2-for-3. With the loss, Darlington drops to 4-3, 3-1 SWAL.
Darlington senior Jason Singer pitched four innings and gave up three earned runs on seven hits. He struck out four and walked one.
Sophomore teammate Jesse Sturtz pitched two innings and gave up four earned runs on six hits. He struck out two and walked three.
In other action, Beloit Turner beat Brodhead-Juda 6-0. Brodhead-Juda will play at Monroe today in a non-conference game.
