MOUNT HOREB - Taylor Riese provided the offensive fireworks leading the Monroe Senior Legion baseball team to an 8-6 win over Mount Horeb in the regular season finale Sunday.

Riese went 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs to spark Monroe. Riese had a three-run homer in a five-run seventh inning that sealed the victory.

"It was a fun night," Monroe coach Eric Losenegger said. "Everyone came up big. It was a good win for us."

Riese helped Monroe jump out to an early lead when he hit a solo home run to left in the first inning.

Mike Turek tripled in the second and scored on Mitch Marty's RBI double. Riese then followed with an RBI double.

Monroe and Mount Horeb were tied at 3 heading into the seventh. Kyle Cessna doubled and Turek was hit by a pitch. Marty then drove in Cessna with a double. That set the stages for Riese's three-run homer. Kramer Henning singled and Jon Elmer had an RBI single to cap the scoring.

Marty pitched 6 1/3 innings and gave up just two earned runs on eight hits.

Monroe will play Milton at 5 p.m. Wednesday in the first round of the regional tournament at Stoughton.
