BENSENVILLE, Illinois - Monroe High School graduate Mitch Riese, as part of the Lindenwood University men's hockey team, can celebrate a national championship.

Lindenwood University knocked off Iowa State 2-1 on Tuesday to win the American Collegiate Hockey Association Division 1 men's national title.

Lindenwood is located in St. Charles, Missouri.

Riese, a sophomore at Lindenwood, plays a defender position. He is a former Monroe Avalanche player who also played for the Monroe Blues semi-pro team.

Lindenwood finishes the season 27-10.
