The WIAA announced its pairings Thursday for the first round of the WIAA girls volleyball playoffs, which will start with regional quarterfinals in Divisions 2, 3 and 4 on Tuesday, Oct. 18.

Regional semifinals are set for Thursday, Oct. 20 in all four divisions, with regional finals on Oct. 22. Sectionals will be held Oct. 27 and Oct. 29, with the survivors competing at the WIAA State Girls Volleyball Tournament at the Resch Center in Green Bay on Nov. 3-5.

Locally, Monroe earned a No. 9 seed and will play at Delavan-Darien on Tuesday. Monroe (10-21, 1-11 Badger South) snapped a 27-match conference losing streak after defeating Monona Grove Oct. 9.

In Division 3, Brodhead earned a No. 6 seed and will host Cambridge. New Glarus received a No. 9 seed and will play eighth-seeded Iowa-Grant in Livingston, and Darlington - a No. 16 seed - will open up the tournament at No. 1 seed Lancaster.

Monticello is the No. 4 seed in the Division 4 sectional 4 bracket. The Ponies will host No. 13 seed Juda. Black Hawk received a No. 11 seed and will open at No. 6 seed Randolph. Albany received a No. 12 seed and will open at No. 5 seed Central Wisconsin Christian (Waupun). The winner of Albany's match will play the winner of the Juda/Monticello match. Burlington Catholic Central is the No. 1 seed.

Argyle received a No. 10 seed in the Division 4 sectional 3 and will play at No. 7 seed Belmont. Pecatonica received a No. 13 seed and will play at No. 4 seed River Ridge.
