REEDSBURG - Having the late matchup of a double-header at Reedsburg on Friday, the Monroe girls basketball team lost 37-34 to the Beavers in a non-conference game that went back and forth.
With the score tied at 21 in the first half, the Cheesemakers held Reedsburg to only two points in the third quarter, but midway through the fourth quarter, the Beavers were able to regain the lead.
"They (Reedsburg) had a stretch where they were able to take the lead from us by going on an 8-0 run," Monroe coach Sam Mathiason said. "Unfortunately, we weren't able to get the lead back. But you have to give credit to their team. They were able to get to the free throw line and convert."
Monroe (6-15, 3-8) hosts Monona Grove on Senior Night on Thursday, Feb. 27.
Southwestern 49, Darlington 38
