Redbirds win again

LIVINGSTON - The Darlington High School football team wrapped up an unbeaten regular season by rolling to a 47-0 win over Iowa-Grant on Friday.

Senior Hunter Johnson rushed for 144 yards on nine carries and scored four touchdowns to lead the Redbirds (9-0) to their seventh Southwest Wisconsin Activities League title in the past eight years. Johnson had touchdown runs of 12, 9, 14 and 41 yards.

Senior Trevor Johnson rushed for 89 yards on four carries and had a 68-yard TD run in the second quarter when the Redbirds put up 19 points. Darlington senior quarterback Jared Meister also hooked up with Trevor Johnson on a 34-yard TD pass.



Brodhead-Juda 30, East Troy 21

EAST TROY - Brodhead-Juda senior quarterback Matt Schmitt tossed three touchdowns to lead the Cardinals.

With the win, Brodhead-Juda (5-4 Rock Valley) becomes playoff eligible.

Jeffrey Williams had a 1-yard TD run in the first quarter. Schmitt connected with Brekan Day on a 57-yard TD pass and also threw a 19-yard TD strike to Justice Tway at the end of the second quarter to give the Cardinals a 21-2 lead at the half.

Schmitt threw a 38-yard TD pass to Tway in the fourth quarter to give the Cardinals a 13-point lead.



Black Hawk 46, River Ridge 12

SOUTH WAYNE - Sophomore Colby Argall rushed for 228 yards and scored five touchdowns to power the Warriors (7-2).

Black Hawk junior Brody Milz rushed for 84 yards on 15 carries and scored one touchdown. Junior Michael Flanagan completed 5 of 8 passes for 103 yards with one touchdown. Jason Treuthardt led the Warriors in receiving with four receptions for 87 yards with one touchdown.

Argall also had an 88-yard kickoff return for a TD.



Also Friday, Evansville-Albany crushed Big Foot 51-13 to win a share of the Rock Valley Conference championship, Pecatonica-Argyle beat Shullsburg 12-6 to improve to 9-0 and win the Six Rivers East Conference for the second straight year, and New Glarus-Monticello (6-3) defeated Cambridge 35-7 to lock up an outright Capitol South title.
