DARLINGTON - The Redbirds tried to come back in the second half against conference rival Southwestern Friday, but came up short, 55-53.
Darlington initially led 13-10 after the first quarter, but trailed 25-21 at halftime.
"Getting to the foul line was our problem," Redbirds head coach Michael Hopkins said of his team's 3-for-9 shooting from the charity stripe.
"We made eight 3-pointers, but I think we settled for the outside shot too much."
Alex Erickson had a game-high 23 points for Darlington (1-3, 0-1 SWAL). Senior forward Ethan Pickett added 11 points.
East Troy 79, Brodhead 51
BRODHEAD - The Cardinals could not overcome East Troy's big second quarter.
After hanging tight in a 15-12 first quarter, Brodhead allowed 31 points to East Troy in the second, with Mitch Windle scoring 15 of his game-high 33 points in the frame.
Sophomore big man J.J. Panoske scored 22 points for the Cardinals and teammate Jacob Cole added 11 points.
East Troy had three players in double figures in the game, with Dan Douglas (22 points) and Scotty Beckwith (14) joining Windle in the top scorer's bracket.
