WISCONSIN RAPIDS - Combining forces, the Darlington boys and girls cross country teams displayed their depth in capturing the Division 2-3 title at the Wisconsin Rapids Invitational, Saturday.
The Darlington boys cross country team, ranked second in the Division 3 Wisconsin Cross Country Coaches Association poll, finished third overall, but when added to the girls fourth-place finish, the Redbirds won the Division 2-3 championship.
The Redbirds had three of the top 28 runners. Darlington sophomore Kent Miehe finished 21st with a time of 17 minutes, 47 seconds. Darlington senior Jordan Heinberg took 26th (17:56) and sophomore Michael Sinclair was 28th (17:57.
Connor Roche finished 31st (18:04) and Garth Garrison was 48th (18:34).
The Darlington girls cross country team placed five runners in the top 27 and finished fourth overall. Darlington's Christa Wamsley finished 16th with a time of 16:39.
Sophomore Amy Jorgenson took 18th (16:42) and Harley Douglas was 19th (16:43).
Tatum Evenstad finished 22nd (16:52) and Hannah Robiolio was 27th (17:00) for the Redbirds.
Darlington will run in the SWAL Conference meet Thursday at Cole Acres in Cuba City.
