BOSCOBEL - Trynton Schwartz delivered two big plays to spark Darlington's football team Friday night.

The first, an 80-yard kickoff return for a score, gave the Redbirds a 6-0 lead.

The second, an 80-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Alex Erickson, set Darlington off on an impressive run of 49 unanswered points in its 69-21 rout of Boscobel. The Redbirds (6-1, 4-1 in the SWAL) clinched a playoff berth with the victory.

Boscobel (2-5, 1-4) actually led 21-20 after the first quarter, with two of its scores coming from Jerod Dayton - a two-yard run and a 32-yard touchdown pass from Dustin Smith.

But Darlington put the game away with 35 second-quarter points. In addition to Schwartz's touchdown catch, the Redbirds got two touchdown runs from Tommy Notter (both from 2 yards), a one-yard scoring dive from Dan Hammer and a 35-yard TD pass from Erickson to Tucker Wiegel. Darlington added second-half scores on one-yard runs by Hammer and Jason Boll.

Erickson had three touchdown passes, including a 41-yard strike to Tyler Shager in the first quarter, and a 1-yard scoring run, also in the first quarter. Darlington racked up 366 yards in offense, while the Redbird defense held Boscobel to 25 yards in 18 rushes.
