PLATTEVILLE - Darlington's boys track team took second in the small school division at the Tri-State High School Invitational at University of Wisconsin-Platteville Saturday.
The Redbirds scored 74 points as a team, trailing only Lancaster (90). Sugar River (43) was fourth behind La Crosse Aquinas (48.33) in the 20-team field.
Darlington junior Alex Erickson won the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.18 seconds. Fellow Redbird Tucker Wiegel was second in the 55-meter dash (6.92 seconds).
Albany's Tyler Conley was third in the 400-meter dash (56.48). Beau York, Sugar River, was third in the 800-meter run (2:08.95).
Sugar River's freshman sensation Ryan McCoy picked up where he left off in the cross country season, toppling the field and winning the 1,600-meter race with a time of 4:49.55. Dennis Haak, also from Sugar River, was second (4:53.76).
Darlington's Connor Roche was second in the 3,200 run (10:49.41) and teammate Michael Sinclair was fourth (11:08.26). Albany's Reese Whitehead was sixth (11:12.30).
Darlington also took top honors in the 1,600 relay with a time of 3:44.96. Sugar River won the 3,200 relay (8:46.16), while Darlington was fourth (9:14.74).
Bruce King, Darlington, was third in the high jump at 5-feet, 10-inches. Sugar River's Dylan Riley was fifth in the pole vault (11-6).
Wiegel (19-4.75) and Erickson (19-feet) were third and fourth, respectively, in the long jump. Darlington's Braden Zywicki was fourth in the triple jump (37-2.75). Albany's Bryce Hulbert was eighth in the shot put (41-11.5).
On the girls side, Darlington finished sixth with 38 points and Sugar River was 13th with 11. Hudson won the meet with 116 team points.
Darlington's Amy Jorgenson finished seventh in the 1,600 (6:02.92), with Sugar River's Rachel Miller coming in 10th (6:14.23).
In the 3200, Darlington's Hannah Robiolio finished fifth (13:49.03), just head of Albany's Rosy Bauman (13:59.96). Sugar River's Jamie Brown was ninth (14:49.72).
In the 55-meter hurdles, Darlington's Lisa Kriedler finished in seventh with a time of 10.31 seconds.

In the shot put, Sugar River's Jessica Putland edged out Darlington's Ashley Martin for fifth place by a quarter-inch, 30-4.50 to 30-4.25.
