DARLINGTON - The Darlington baseball team dug themselves a hole in the first inning against Cuba City, but came storming back to beat the Cubans 12-10 in a slugfest Friday.
Darlington (3-0, 1-0 SWAL) fell behind 9-0 after the Cubans' half of the first inning.
The Redbirds pounded out 13 hits. Five players had multi-hit games including senior Colton Carpenter (2-for-2), junior Tyler Hardyman (3-for-5), junior Colton Hackett (3-for-4), junior Joey Meylor (2-for-3) and junior Wade Black (2-for-4).
The Redbird scored four runs in the fifth and three in the sixth to cap the comeback.
"We just kept on chipping away," Darlington coach Andy Sawall said. "It kept it exciting."
Black pitched two shutout innings to get the win for the Redbirds.
