DARLINGTON - The Redbirds followed the lead of starting pitcher Ronnie Rush and knocked off Fennimore Monday, 4-1.

"Last week we lost to Southwestern and it was one-sided. We wanted to see how they would respond," Darlington head coach Andy Sawall said. "We played well and were good on defense. We got out of tight situations."

Rush pitched a complete game, allowing just a single unearned run in the second inning. He finished with one walk, five hits and three strikeouts.

Colton Carpenter, Jason Boll and Tanner Havens each singled, collecting Darlington's only three hits. However, the offense came together in the fifth as the Redbirds plated three runs. They added one for insurance in the sixth.

Argyle 8,

Shulls.-Benton 6

ARGYLE - The Orioles got solid pitching and timely hitting Monday.

Nate Thomas picked up the win on the hill, going four innings, striking out two, walking none and allowing five hits. Nick Martin picked up a three-inning save.

"It wasn't fancy," Argyle head coach Travis Erickson said. "A lot of credit goes to our pitching - they are keeping us in games."

Argyle scored four times in the second inning and twice more in the third. Shullsburg-Benton made good on some costly errors by the Orioles defense, allowing the Miners to tie the game.

"We somehow managed to get away with it," Erickson said.

However, in both the fourth and fifth innings, Argyle benefited by six wild pitches with runners on base to score its final two runs.

Orfordville Parkview 22,

Black Hawk 0

SOUTH WAYNE - The Vikings scored 11 runs and sent 17 batters to the plate in the first inning alone in a non-conference win over the Warriors.

Parkview scored three more runs in the second, four in the fourth and four in the fifth.

Eleven of Black Hawk's 15 outs on offense came via the strikeout. Black Hawk had no hits but avoided the perfect game by walking twice.
