Redbirds, Monticello fall short on the road

MUSCODA - One night after posting a win on the road at Argyle, the Darlington girls basketball team fell on the road to Riverdale, 54-42, in the make-up of a SWAL conference game postponed by a snowstorm on Feb. 9.

The Redbirds scored only nine points in the first half and made just 16 of 31 free throws for the game.

Junior Carley McDonald led Darlington with 12 points.

Jade Lins of Riverdale led all scorers with 17 points.

The Redbirds (7-14, 3-10 SWAL) will close the regular season at home against Southwestern Friday.

Johnson Creek 54, Monticello 41

JOHNSON CREEK - The Ponies headed into the fourth quarter of their non-conference game at Johnson Creek trailing by just one point 34-33, but were outscored by the Blue Jays 20-8 over the final eight minutes.

Monticello got 16 points from junior Taylor Pfeuti, but fell to 6-11 overall.

Monticello will get back into Six Rivers East conference action with their regular season finale Friday at home against Black Hawk.
