DARLINGTON - The Redbirds blanked Boscobel 71-0 and scored 57 first half points en route to their largest blowout of the year.
The rest of the game was merely academic as Darlington (5-1, 4-0 SWAL) pulled its starters early in the second half. Senior Tanner Wiegel rushed for 151 yards on eight carries and scored four touchdowns, including a 21-yard reception on the Redbirds' only pass attempt of the game. Wiegel also scored on a run of 66 yards.
"You don't see those types of points grinding it out; it's our ability to hit the big plays," Darlington coach Scott Zywicki said. "The speed once we hit the corner, especially Tanner and Jason (Singer), other teams just can't match that."
Singer also had a big game with 111 yards on six carries. All told, Darlington had three 100-yard rushers as Myles Leahy ran for 102 yards and three touchdowns.
Tight end Ryan Latham was a bright spot for the Bulldogs with 48 receiving yards, leading all players, but his team was outrushed 448-6.
"They have a lot of young kids and they aren't ready for our level of play yet," Zywicki said. "Now we are hitting the part of the schedule where the level of competition is ratcheting up and we will see more skill and size. We've got to be ready."
Brodhead-Juda 19, Palmyra-Eagle 13

The Panthers had the advantage in total yards 250-195, but Brodhead-Juda (5-1, 3-0 Rock Valley South) put up 13 points in the fourth quarter to snatch the win.
"Palmyra played a heck of a game," Brodhead-Juda coach B.J. Bockhop said. "This was their homecoming game and they have a chance at the playoffs, and they were fired up. We didn't match their intensity in the first half."
Doulgas rushed for 62 yards and Derek Turner added 40 for Brodhead-Juda. Griffin Day had three catches for 36 yards for the Cardinals. The Panthers had a 7-3 halftime lead and were up by one going into the fourth quarter.
"I hope what happened tonight opens their eyes and they realize you can't come out flat like that," Bockhop said.
