Redbird boys tie for 2nd

PLATTEVILLE - The Darlington boys track team had nine top four finishes in individual races to tie Dodgeville-Mineral Point for second place in the Benton-Scales Mound Indoor Invitational at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville on Saturday.

The Oregon boys captured the team title, racking up 114.5 points. Both Darlington and Dodgeville-Mineral Point tied for second with 82 points. Pecatonica-Argyle took 10th (18) in the 14-team invite.

Darlington sophomore Grady Reilly won the 55-meter high hurdles (8.75 seconds). Darlington senior Tanner Evenstad finished second in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11 minutes, 5.23 seconds. Sophomore teammate Paul king took fourth (11:26.57).

Junior Trevor Johnson took third in the triple jump (35-0 1/2) and Reilly was fourth (34-10 1/4).

Pecatonica-Argyle senior Owen Aerts finished third in the long jump (18-6).

The Redbirds had four relays finish in the top four. Darlington's 3,200 relay took third (8:32.58). The Redbirds' 800 relay finished fourth (1:43.44), the 1,600 relay took fourth (3:59.51) and the 1,600 sprint medley relay was fourth (4:12.67).

In the girls' invite, Oregon ran away with the team title 99.5-78.5 over Platteville. Darlington took third (77.5) followed by Black Hawk 11th (10) and Pecatonica-Argyle 14th (5).

Darlington sophomore Hunter Weber won the pole vault (8-0). Senior Carly Langkamp finished second in the 400 (1:04.95) and second in the pole vault (7-6). Senior Molly McDaniel finished fourth (6-0).

The Redbirds' 3,200 relay team finished second (11:13.07) and sophomore Emma Crist took third in the 3,200 (13:53.15). Freshman teammate Kaylee Meyers took fourth in the long jump (14-5) and junior Sadie Fitzsimons was fourth in the triple jump (29-7 1/2). The Redbirds' 1,600 relay finished fourth (4:31.26).

The top finishes for Black Hawk came from sophomore Haley Gertsch who took fifth in the 400 (1:09.65) and sophomore Brianna Hagen who was sixth (1:13.83).
