MONROE - The Milton High School boys tennis team breezed by Monroe 7-0 in a dual match on Tuesday.
In one of the best matches, Monroe junior Silas Setterstrom lost a three-setter to Milton's Jackson Van Den Heuvel 6-4, 1-6, 1-6 at No. 1 singles. Milton's Sam Robinson at No. 2 singles defeated Monroe junior Ryan Peterson 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. At No. 3 singles, Milton's Zach Miller beat Monroe sophomore Quinn Sulejmani 6-0, 6-0, and at No. 4 singles the Red Hawks' Scott Meyer defeated the Cheesemakers' Ben Dombowski 6-0, 6-0.
"Milton gave us a couple of good matches at No. 1 and 2 singles," Monroe coach Ashley Hermanson said. "The third set was rough for Monroe. Both Silas and Ryan went down early in the set, and neither of them could get a rhythm going to win a few points or games. It would have been nice having a few wins, but we just couldn't pull it off."
Milton's Chet Adam and Ethan Langer at No. 1 doubles defeated Monroe junior Kody Althaus and senior Tanner Purdy 6-2, 6-3. The Red Hawks' Robby Boden and Neil Garcia at No. 2 doubles beat Monroe sophomore Brett Lyne and senior Ryan Stoneback 6-0, 6-0. At No. 3 doubles, Milton's Sean Harvatine and Grant Kosharek beat the Cheesemakers' Scott Foley and Zeke Frankford 6-0, 6-0.
The Cheesemakers (0-8, 0-4 Badger South) will be back in action at the Stoughton Invitational on Saturday.
