River Clean teaches children about conservation

FREEPORT — United Sportsmen’s Youth Foundation is holding their annual River Clean event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 29. Sign in is from 8 to 9 a.m. at Rock Hollow Conservation Club, 1931 Route 75 East, Freeport. 

From there, volunteers will leave for their assigned areas to clean. They will be cleaning the Pecatonica River from the Wisconsin state line to where the river meets the Sugar River.

A free lunch is provided to all volunteers. Camping is available. Service clubs are encouraged to participate. Volunteers are needed for vehicle runners and river site coordinators as well as sponsors and individuals with boats. 

River Clean is an annual event that has a positive impact on local wildlife and helps maintain the beauty of the Pecatonica River. It brings together families, youth groups and volunteers of all ages and backgrounds from throughout northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin, united in one goal.
