Monroe receives grant funds to improve Twining Park infields

Twining Park softball fields received over $13,000 in grants for field improvements.

MONROE — The City of Monroe Parks and Recreation Department announces that it has received grant funding from the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, Inc to support the Twining Park infield surface improvements.

Over time, the infields have developed low worn areas and high buildup areas of ball field material. These issues create pockets of standing water, rainouts, delays, inconsistent playability and an unsafe playing surface. The improvements will re-establish the correct grade to ensure positive drainage and allow for proper playability and improve player safety. The cost of improving both infields at Twining was $13,450.

The City of Monroe received $2,000 from the Monroe Fund, $500 from the Monsignor Thomas F. Campion Special Project Fund and $500 from the Robert B. Olson Endowment for Monroe High School Fund. These grant funds are made available from the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin.
