GENEVA, Ohio — Monroe grad Jordan Hirsbrunner put together a second-place performance in the Indoor Pentathlon at the Big Ten Indoor Championships Feb. 25-27 at SPIRE Institute. She earned second-team All-Big Ten Honors for her efforts.
Hirsbrunner, a redshirt sophomore, was fourth in the 60-meter sprint (8.8 seconds; 952 points), tied for fifth in the high jump (5-feet, 4.5-inches; 783 points), took second in the shot put (44-3.5; 761 points), seventh in the long jump (17-2.75; 628 points), and first overall in the 800-meters race (2:18.88; 839 points).
All told, she collected 3,963 pentathlon points (and 8 team points), which was 125 below Minnesota’s Allison Gerads, but 82 ahead of Iowa’s Dallyssa Huggins, who took third.
Hirsbrunner also competed in the 1,600-meter relay, in which the Badgers finished fourth at 3:41.24, less than six seconds behind champion Minnesota. The mark also represents the fourth fastest indoor time in program history.
Wisconsin’s women’s team finished fourth with 62 points, trailing Iowa (75), Michigan (80) and meet champion Minnesota (138). The UW men’s team was eighth, with Iowa winning the overall championship.
The NCAA Indoor Championships are slated for March 11-13 at Fayetteville, Arkansas. The women’s pentathlon is scheduled to take place March 11 with competition starting at 11:30 a.m. and going through 5:30 p.m.
Hirsbrunner is a 2017 Monroe graduate and held or was a part of nine school records when her days as a Cheesemaker ended. She was named all-state her senior year of high school in the 300-hurdles and the 100-meter dash. She captured three WIAA state titles in her high school career, twice winning the 300-hurdles and winning the 100-meter dash her senior season.
