Kostenbader inches closer to points lead in Modifieds class

DARLINGTON — Kenny Kostenbader took first place ahead of Jeff Larson in the Modifieds class race at the June 29 Armed Forces Night at Lafayette County Speedway, inching closer to the top spot in total points for the season. 

Larson leads Kostenbader in total points 248-237 with just four races left until the season championship.

Travis Denning was third in the final race of June, and now trails Mike Fryer, who took 14th, by just three points for third in the season standings.

In the Limited Late Models, points leader Jamie Pfieffer stretched the gap on second-place Jason Robbins, who finished second in the race.

Kyle Hoffman won the SportMods race, just ahead of Nick Schliem and Tim Sorn. Sorn is the season points leader, just three points ahead of Bob Silaggi (237-234), with Zach Maurer (222) third and Schliem (215) fourth. Mauer was fourth June 29.

In the Four Cylinders run, Cameron Wahl took first place, ahead of Eric Beau and Timmy Houtakker. Wahl leads Beau in the season standings, now 244-240.

Tim Maurer won the Trucks class, finishing ahead of Scott Martie (second) and Derek McBee (third). The three races also hold the same positions in the season standings.

There were no races at Lafayette County Speedway July 6, with the next round of racing scheduled for July 13 during the Lafayette County Fair.
