Mitch Daubert of Monroe recorded a hole-in-one at Windy Acres Aug. 27.

MONROE — Green County’s newest member of the hole-in-one club is Monroe’s Mitch Daubert.

Golfing in the Thursday Playboy league with his father, Scott, cousin Nick Burkhalter and brother-in-law Caleb Riese, Daubert carded his first career ace on the par 3 third hole at Windy Acres Aug. 27.

“(It’s) a blind shot as you can’t see the green,” Mitch said. “When I hit it, I thought it would be close. When we pulled up to the green it wasn’t on or short.”

He thought his ball went beyond the backside of the green and went looking through the corn field off the course but couldn’t find it.

“I was persuaded by my group to finally check the cup, and there it was,” Mitch said.

He finished the 9-hole round with a one-over-par 37. Daubert’s ace was the first hole-in-one of the season at Windy Acres, a public course located south of Monroe on County K.
