MONROE — Badger State Tractor Pullers announced June 3 that its entire summer schedule was canceled.

“It is with a heavy heart that we write this post, this is not a choice we wanted to make,” the organization announced in a post on Facebook.

The organization’s board of directors made the decision the day prior. The cancelation is “due to the evolving COVID-19 pandemic, it’s impact on community health, and the uncertainty of local and state restrictions,” according to the organization.

Local pulls included a July 16 competition at the Green County Fairgrounds in Monroe, July 18 at the Lafayette County Fair in Darlington, July 21-22 at the Stephenson County Fair in Freeport, Aug. 1 in Warren, Illinois and Aug. 21 in Pecatonica, Illinois.

Promoters are already reaching out to secure dates in 2021.

While the BSTP season was canceled, Green County Fall Nationals is holding out hope for a Sept. 26 pull in Monroe.

“We haven’t thrown in the towel and are still hopeful that by September some guidelines will have changed that would allow us hold our event,” the group announced on Facebook just hours later. “In order for this to even have a glimmer of hope we’d need to have open grandstands with no restrictions on crowd size — all driven by local and state policies that are clearly out of our control.”
