Ramos named top player

MONROE - The accolades keep rolling in for Juda-Albany pitcher Amber Ramos.

Ramos was named the Six Rivers East Conference Player of the Year recently. She also was selected first team all-conference as a pitcher. Ramos went 12-4 with a 0.74 ERA and 224 strikeouts.

Three other Juda-Albany players received first team all-conference including infielders Katlyn DeVoe, Jessica Rackow and C.J. Dunwiddie as a utility player.

Monticello (8-2), which finished second in the conference also had three first team all-conference players including Karlie Klossner at pitcher, sophomore Marissa Berg at catcher and junior outfielder Jordyn Kubly.

Argyle junior infielder Kayla Ostby and Danielle Treuthardt as an outfielder were also first team selections. Pecatonica senior Michala Boese as an infielder and junior Michelle Francois as an outfielder were also named first team. The other first team selection was Black Hawk sophomore Jen Wellnitz.

Boese hit .377 and had 16 RBis and Francois hit .344 for the Vikings.

The Orioles had four players named honorable mention all-conference including sophomore Jessica Treuthardt, junior Kim Pink, sophomore Alysha Monahan and senior Frida Cuevas. Juda-Albany junior Kirstie Kauk and senior Courtney Moisan were named honorable mention. The two honorable mention selections for the Ponies included freshman Jordan Garrison and senior Tanya Smith. Pecatonica's Allison Swenson and Katie Moen also were named honorable mention.
