JUDA - Against one of the top pitchers in the state, the Panthers showed they can grit out a tough win.

Juda knocked off Kenosha Christian Life on Saturday, 2-1, and got the best of pitcher Brie Tennyson, the state's leading strikeout queen.

"It was a very good game," Juda coach Bill Davis said. "She's one of the best pitchers in the state."

Tennyson struck out 12 Panthers and allowed just two hits, but Juda's offense found a way to score a run in both the third and fifth innings. Christian Life scored it's lone run in the top of the fifth, a run that briefly tied the game at 1-1.

Amber Ramos continued to impress on the hill for the Panthers. Ramos struck out 15 hitters, walked one and scattered five hits. She also eclipsed the 500-strikeout mark of her career, a feat that puts her in premier standing in the southwestern portion of the state.

Ramos also had two hits at the plate, and drove in both of Juda's runs. Tennyson had two hits and Christian Life's lone RBI.
