BELLEVILLE - Sugar River junior Taylor Legler scored two goals to propel the Raiders to a 5-0 win over Evansville in a WIAA Division 3 regional championship Saturday.
Sugar River junior Vanessa Narveson put the Raiders on the board scoring a goal on an assist from Hannah Jones at 18 minutes, 49 seconds. Legler scored a goal 1 minute later to give the Raiders a 2-0 lead.
Sugar River (19-3-1) broke the game open scoring three goals in the second half. Aimee Sies scored a goal on an assist from Abbi Lahey at the 49th minute. Sanders scored a goal on a penalty kick and Legler scored her second goal at 82:23 on a pass from Jaimie Ott.
Sugar River goalkeeper Paige Natzke had nine saves. With the win, Sugar River advances and will host Madison Edgewood in a sectional semifinal at 7 p.m. Thursday in Belleville.
