BELLEVILLE - Sugar River's Dylan Hustad notched a hat trick in leading the Raiders to a 6-0 win over Wisconsin Heights Tuesday, Sept. 24.
Hustad scored three goals off the bench and Nehemiah Noriega scored two goals to propel the Raiders to the win. With the win, Sugar River improves to 8-4-1, 4-0 Capitol Conference.
"He (Hustad) had an absolute spectacular night off the bench," Sugar River coach Richard Sanders said.
The Raiders scored four goals in the first half. Noriega scored the first two goals for the Raiders. Sugar River senior Travis Loeffelholz and Hustad also both added first half goals.
Hustad scored two goals in the second half to pace the Raiders, which are tied with Lakeside Lutheran atop the conference. Sugar River plays another conference game at Cambridge-Deerfield Thursday, Sept. 26 before hosting rival Lodi. The Raiders then play at Lakeside Lutheran where an outright conference title could be on the line.
"I feel very confident," Sanders said of his team that is averaging four goals per game. "We are getting scoring consistently from six different positions on the field. It's pretty tough to match up defensively when they are locked in like that. It's a switch from last year when we struggled to score."
