MOUNT HOREB - The Sugar River Raiders lost a tight matchup in the regular season finale to one of the state's best teams in Division 3, 1-0.
The Vikings (11-4) are ranked second in the state behind undefeated Delavan-Darien, according to the WisSports.net Coaches Poll.
Cameron Eyre scored the game's only goal with under six minutes left to play.
"Very tough and fun game," Raiders coach Kyle Webber said. "Both teams looked to match up well against each other. (It) was very tight for the majority of the game."
Sugar River goalkeeper Cole Myers had seven saves.
"Each team had some quality opportunities. After 84 minutes the wet field conditions led to a goal. It was a good shot by Mount Horeb, and Cole Myers slipped trying to make a save," Webber said.
Sugar River (14-5-3, 8-1 in the Capitol Conference) closes the season one win behind Wisconsin Heights for the conference championship.
