MADISON - The Sugar River Raiders saw their season come to an end Tuesday after losing to the Madison Edgewood Crusaders, 2-0, in a WIAA Division 2 regional game at Warner Park in Madison.
The Crusaders scored the only goal the team would need at 5:41 in the first half, then got an insurance goal in the 79th minute to finish off the Raiders.
Stingy defense by the Raiders kept them in the game as the Crusaders had very few shots on goal and senior goalkeeper Eric Liegel had just one save.
Sugar River ends its season at 7-6 while Madison Edgewood improves to 10-5-1 and advances to face Mount Horeb Thursday in the regional semifinal.
