MADISON - Monroe native Brent Quade was tied for third place in the Wisconsin State Open before the rain came and suspended play in the second round Tuesday at University Ridge.

Quade, a 2007 Monroe High School graduate, birdied the 396-yard No. 1 before the tournament was delayed for rain for the second straight day. Quade is tied with Brookfield's Eddie Wajda.

Quade is just two shots behind co-leaders Andy Buege of Abrams and Kyle Henning of Brookfield.

Once the second round is completed, the top 60 golfers and ties make the cut and will play a final round that was originally scheduled for today. With the delay, the final round will be pushed back. Second-round play will begin at 7:30 a.m. today and the final 36-hole round will start at 12:30 p.m. today. It's still unknown if the Wisconsin State Open will go the full 72 holes or be cut to 54 holes.

Kyle Bruce, a 2012 Monroe graduate, is tied for 56th place after playing just four holes in the second round. Bruce carded two pars and a birdie on No. 13.

Bruce along with Quade are both on track to make the cut for the final round.

Monroe's Mike Muranyi, a former golf professional at Monroe Country Club, finished off his first round with a 6-over 78. He also shot 78 in the second round and is tied for 127th place at 12-over. Muranyi carded four birdies. He settled for double bogeys on Nos. 4 and 10.

Muranyi, the 1983 Wisconsin State Open champion, receives a lifetime exemption to play in the tournament.
