Price, Errthum power Monticello

ARGYLE - Senior Zach Price and junior Jon Errthum each scored a team-high 14 points to propel the Monticello High School boys basketball team to a 51-47 win over Argyle in Six Rivers East action on Friday.

Monticello (3-9, 1-4) made 16 of 37 free throws. Argyle (2-7, 0-4) made 11 of 25 free throws.

"We shot 1-for-11 at the free-throw line down the stretch," Argyle coach Justin Jenson said. "Our defense played well enough to keep us in the game. We didn't convert the opportunities we had. It's not an excuse. We just didn't take advantage of the opportunities."

Argyle senior Collin Argue scored a game-high 20 points and knocked down three 3-pointers.

Price hit two of the Ponies' four 3-pointers.



New Glarus 78, Waterloo 56

WATERLOO - New Glarus had a balanced offensive attack with four players reaching double figures in a win over Waterloo in the Capitol South Conference opener.

Both New Glarus junior Cullen Brooks and sophomore Zach Feller scored a game-high 18 points. Junior Dishawn Gale added 14 points and sophomore Trevor Gassman pitched in 11 points.

The Knights (6-3, 1-0 Capitol South) shot 67 percent at the free-throw line (18 of 27) and hit six 3-pointers. Feller and Gassman each hit two 3-pointers.



Barneveld 62, Juda 32

BARNEVELD - Matthew Myers scored a game-high 21 points to help Barneveld roll over Juda (6-4, 2-2 Six Rivers East).

Barneveld (8-0, 4-0) is the top-ranked team in the WisSports.net Division 5 coaches poll.

Juda senior Matt Schmitt scored a team-high 11 points.



Black Hawk 82, Belmont 39

SOUTH WAYNE - Sophomore Conner Meyer scored 26 points to lead the Warriors (7-1) to a nonconference win over Belmont.

Meyer scored 16 points in the first half to help Black Hawk build a 42-16 advantage.

Senior Josh Meier scored 12 of his 18 points in the first half for the Warriors. Junior C.J. Leuzinger added 13 points in the game, including three of the Warriors' five 3-pointers.
