FREEPORT - The Monroe girls swimming team had one first-place finish in a dual meet with Freeport Saturday, Sept. 14.
The Cheesemakers' 400-yard freestyle relay team of Skylar Lassen, Monica Sefcik, Angie Beaver and Anna Meritt finished first with a time of 4 minutes, 31.31 seconds. The Pretzels dominated the meet taking the top two spots in nine of the 11 events.
"We looked a little sluggish in the water today and that worries me because I have two swimmers down with the stomach flu," Monroe coach Linda Moser said. "The upside is, it is better to have this happen now in the season than at the end of the season."
Lassen took second place in the 100 freestyle (1:03.34) and third in the 200 individual medley (2:40.83). The Cheesemakers' 200 medley relay team of Haley Kaiser, Grace Moehn, Abby Oudinot and Lassen finished third (2:17.31).
Monroe's Mackenzie Hesgard finished third in the 100 butterfly (1:21.94) and third in the 100 breaststroke (1:27.60). The Cheesemakers' 200 freestyle relay team of Beaver, Moehn, Amanda Putz and Oudinot took third (2:01.28).
