MONROE RECAP>

Boys Basketball (21-2): >Speed bumps only seemed to eventually make Monroe pick up speed in Saturday's 54-46 victory over Edgerton at Verona Area High School in a WIAA Division 2 regional final. Tony Cates continues to battle a digestive ailment but tied Mitch Tordoff for a game-high 15 points. Brett Stangel continued to play through pain in his fractured left leg as the Crimson Tide tried to bog down the pace and even took a 19-17 lead into the half.

Girls Basketball (16-5): >Monroe had designs on rearranging and decimating the Crimson Tide's interior from the outset of Tuesday's 65-40 WIAA Division 2 regional quarterfinal at home.

Wrestling: >Gavin Wels surged from down 4-3 to win 5-4 in the final 19 seconds of his fifth-place bout at 103 pounds against Mondovi junior Mike Peterson Saturday at the WIAA Division 2 State Tournament at the Kohl Center in Madison. Kyle Klopfenstein's dream was realized before his sixth-place finish, as his goal was simply to make state. Little did the senior captain know that he'd make the podium.
