MADISON - Senior Zach Price scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Monticello boys basketball team to an 80-63 nonconference win over Madison Country Day on Tuesday.
Monticello (2-9) went on a 21-2 run that started late in the first half and carried into the early part of the second half and built a 19-point lead, 38-19. The Ponies never trailed again.
The Ponies had four players reach double figures. Monticello junior Jon Errthum added 17 points, and junior Braden Gafner and freshman Reece Rufer each chipped in 12 points.
The Ponies spent a lot of time at the free-throw line, making 20 of 36.
Madison Country Day's Colin Green scored a team-high 21 points, and Matt Muldowney had 20 points.
Darlington 71, New Glarus 55
NEW GLARUS - Darlington cousins Hunter and Trevor Johnson each scored 20 points to lead the Redbirds to a nonconference win over New Glarus (5-3).
Darlington, ranked second in the WisSports.net Division 4 Coaches' poll, improves to 8-0.
Darlington senior Ryan Glendenning added 16 points.
New Glarus sophomore Trevor Gassman scored a team-high 12 points on four 3-pointers. Junior Cullen Brooks added 11 points. Junior Dishawn Gale and sophomore Jaden Kreklow each chipped in eight points.
The Redbirds shot 67 percent from the free-throw line (14 of 21) compared to 50 percent for the Knights (3 of 6).
