Ponies roll over BH; Cards post big road win

GRATIOT - The Monticello Ponies dropped Black Hawk in a Six Rivers East Conference game Monday, 9-1.

Karlie Klossner got the win on the mound and was stellar at the plate, finishing 3 for 5 with a run scored. On the hill, Klossner struck out four, and allowed five hits and a walk for the complete game win.

Kayla Melland took the loss on the mound for Black Hawk, walking eight and giving up 12 hits with one strikeout.

Freshman Jen Wellnitz was 2 for 3 at the dish to lead the Warriors.

Brodhead 4, Edgerton 2

EDGERTON - The Cardinals used a clutch 2-RBI triple by Mariah Mohns to knock off Rock Valley rival Edgerton Monday night.

Mohns, who was 2 for 4 in the game, came to the plate with two outs in the top of the seventh and delivered the biggest blow of the game. The clutch hit gave Brodhead (10-1, 7-0 Rock Valley) the lead. Taylor Douglas was 3 for 4 and Tia Collins went 2 for 4 to help lead the Cardinals' charge.

Brodhead's senior ace Erika Stampfli struck out 16 batters, walked four and allowed just one hit.

Barneveld 4,

Argyle 3

BARNEVELD - The Orioles lost in the eighth inning to the Eagles in a hotly contested Six Rivers East game.

After Barneveld scored two runs in the first inning, Argyle tied it up in the fifth and took a brief 3-2 lead in the top of the sixth. The Eagles tied it up in the bottom of the sixth and then scored the winning run in the extra frame.

Danielle Treuthardt had two hits to lead Argyle.

Mineral Point 22, Darlington 0

MINERAL POINT - The Redbirds allowed 22 runs in the first three inning, en route to a big-time loss to Mineral Point.

The Pointers recorded 20 hits and held Darlington to just two.

Laura Steiner allowed 15 runs, 12 earned on 14 hits in two innings for the Redbirds. Savannah Winters allowed seven runs on six hits in two innings in relief.

Wisconsin Heights 19, New Glarus 1

MAZOMANIE - The Glarner Knights scored a run in the fourth inning, but allowed 17 combined runs in the bottom of the third and fourth inning of Monday's Capitol South game.

New Glarus also had two hits in the contest.
