DARLINGTON - The Darlington wrestling team managed a pin and a decision but ultimately lost to a tough Mineral Point squad, 61-9.
Darlington senior Alex Schulte (170 pounds) started the match off on the right foot, winning by an 8-5 decision over Mineral Point's Nate Cody.
The Redbirds' only other win came when heavyweight Cruz Behena pinned Mineral Point's Brian Steffes in 1 minutes, 8 seconds. Steffes is currently ranked in the top 15 at his weight class in Division 3.
The Pointers, the fourth-ranked team in Division 3, boasts five wrestlers ranked in the top 10 of their respective weight classes; all five collected wins Thursday night.
The Redbirds will travel to take on Pecatonica on Thursday, Jan. 10.
