Place takes top honors

The 2008-09 Six Rivers East boys basketball all-conference selections have been announced, with 26 players netting honors.

Black Hawk senior forward Michael Place was named to the first-team all conference, as well as co-conference player of the year with Barneveld junior Logan Johnson.

Place finished the season averaging 15.7 points per game, but was a dominant post player all season, outrebounding nearly all of his opponents.

Johnson finished as the conference's scoring leader, averaging 17.3 points per game for the conference co-champions.

Junior teammate T.J. Adams (honorable mention, 11.0 ppg) joined Place in honors for Black Hawk.

Monticello netted three all-conference nods, with senior Brandon Holz (14.1 ppg) and junior Jacob Marty (11.3 ppg) being named to the first team and sophomore Tyler Ritschard netting honorable mention honors.

Seniors Andy Bohlman (9.0 ppg) and Kevin Berg (9.0 ppg) were named to the first team squad for Argyle.

Seniors Beau Benner (first team, 16.9 ppg) and Tyler Pierce (honorable mention, 10.4 ppg) each received nods for Juda.

Albany seniors T.J. Zweifel (first team, 9.3 ppg) and Tyler Bauman (honorable mention, 8.7 ppg) made the list, as well as Pecatonica seniors Kaleb Feller (first team, 15.0 ppg) and Milton Kurschner (honorable mention, 5.2 ppg).

Monticello head coach Brad Pickett was named co-coach of the year with Barneveld's Jack Capelle.

Monticello and Barneveld finished tied atop the conference standings.
