ANTIGO - The Avalanche PeeWee A team traveled north Saturday and Sunday for three games. The first on Saturday was against Antigo PeeWee A. The Avalanche won the game easily, 6-1.
Anika Einbeck was all over the ice and was first to score a goal with an assist from Tessa Janecke in the first period. Antigo scored their only goal in the first period. In the top of the second, Tessa Janecke scored a goal on an assist from by Cade Janecke, and Anika Einbeck scored a goal on assists by Hayden Roth and Alvin Buholzer. Payton Stauffacher fired one in from the blue line 57 seconds into the third period. Roth found the empty net for a goal on assists by Tessa Janecke and Einbeck. Ryan Molitor scored the last Avalanche goal on an assist by Cade Janecke. Goalie Heath Bear recorded 13 shots on goal.
Saturday night, the Avalanche PeeWee A traveled to Stevens Point to take on their PeeWee A team and skated to a 7-3 win. Roth scored the first goal and the score was 1-0 at the end of the first period.
Stevens Point put up two goals in the second period with the Avalanche scoring four. Stauffacher scored two goals, while Roth, and Cade Janecke each added one goal.
Stevens Point added one in the third period, but the Avalanche responded with two more by Roth on an assist by Alvin Buholzer and a goal by Tessa Janecke on an assist by Einbeck. Bear recorded 23 saves.
On Sunday, there was a rematch with Stevens Point and Monroe won 2-1. With the game scoreless into the second period, Stevens Point got on the scoreboard. The Avalanche quickly responded with a goal from Tessa Janecke on assists by Cade Janecke and Payton Stauffacher, ending the second period in a 1-1 tie. At the 12:52 mark in the third period, Cade Janecke lit the lamp with an unassisted goal. The Avalanche held onto their 2-1 lead winning this fast-paced, physical game. The Avalanche's record is 21-2-1 as they enter playoffs this weekend. They are seeded first in the league, giving them a bye for the first game. They will play at 12:45 p.m. in Oregon Feb. 7.

The Avalanche met a strong attack that saw 22 shots against in the first period, but responded with disciplined defensive-minded adjustments that reined in Iowa's offensive efforts. At the other end of the ice, Monroe managed 17 shots on net, but couldn't find an opening. Goaltender Aiden Runkle remained focused through a busy game and recorded 42 saves. The Avalanche fell 4-0 as Iowa City began its run to the championship game.

Blaze Janecke scored an improbable unassisted goal with a high-arcing shot from just inside the blue line. The Avalanche got second-period goals from Kaiden Klitzke and Jared Dillon off a textbook centering pass by Luke Kuberski. Monroe led 3-2 after two periods, but Baraboo fired up their attack in the third period with Runkle making the bulk of his 17 saves down the stretch. Baraboo's quick puck movement in the Avalanche defensive zone drew out an opening in the slot where the tying goal was driven through a screen with just over one minute to play. In overtime, Baraboo jumped on an early opportunity and ripped a shot from the high slot where a first shot-blocker save launched 5 feet high and took a bounce into the net on its way down.
