Pee Wee team scores win, tie

The Avalanche Pee Wee team hosted a pair of games this weekend. On Saturday, Dec. 1, the Avalanche beat the Madison Patriots 9-1.

Balanced scoring was the key to victory, as Travis Edmunds scored twice while Cammi Ganshert, Connor Nafzger, Jared Cline, Payton Stauffacher, Joe Wyss, Cade Janecke and Tessa Janecke each scored once. Wyss also recorded three assists. Goalie Jayden Johnson recorded seven saves.

On Sunday, the team played the DC Diamonds 14 U team and tied 2-2. The Avalanche stuck first as Wyss was able to take an Edmunds pass to score the game's first goal. The Diamonds scored twice and appeared to be headed to victory until Edmunds found Tessa Janecke to tie the game with 44 seconds left. Strong team defense kept the Avalanche in the game, lead by Roman Bauer, Cline, Ganshert and Stauffacher. Johnson continued to play well in goal, recording 19 saves.
