BLANCHARDVILLE - Pecatonica senior Kimee Chandler verbally committed to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee to play basketball on full scholarship.

Chandler informed Panthers head coach Sandy Botham of her decision to attend the Horizon League school during a phone conversation Monday morning. Wisconsin-Milwaukee was the first Division 1 school to offer Chandler a basketball scholarship. The offer was made in 2007 after her freshman year.

As a junior during the 2008-09 high school season, Chandler averaged 16.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 4.8 steals per game. She begins her upcoming senior season as one of the top candidates for the coveted Wisconsin Miss Basketball Award that is given annually to the top female high school player in the state.

Chandler becomes the first female athlete in any sport from Pecatonica to receive a Division 1 scholarship.

The 5-foot 6-inch point guard was selected as a first team All-State player as a sophomore and junior. During the offseason, Chandler plays AAU basketball for the Pacesetter Basketball Wisconsin H.S. Elite Program, which she was selected to play for in 2007.

She joins Pacesetter Basketball members Angela Rodriguez (senior; Oak Creek) who committed to the Panthers last month, and Pacesetter Basketball alumni member Katie Ehlen (Cambridge) who will play as a freshman for the Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's team this season.
