ALBANY - Pecatonica sophomore A.J. Hendrickson scored a game-high 31 points to lead the Vikings to a 81-64 shootout win over Albany Thursday.

"When you get into a shootout with them (Pecatonica), nine times out of 10 you are going to lose," Albany coach Derik Doescher said. "We forced them to shoot perimeter shots and they shot fabulous."

Pecatonica (13-3, 8-0 Six Rivers East) hit eight of its 10 3-pointers in the first half. Pecatonica sophomore Logan Green scored 16 points and made two 3-pointers. Teammate Kyle Kleppe added 14 points and drained four 3-pointers. Pecatonica is unbeaten against Division 5 teams this season. The only losses for the Vikings came against New Glarus (Division 3), Mineral Point (Division 4) and Darlington (Division 4).

The Vikings raced to a 25-12 lead in the first quarter and led by 17 points at the half, 47-30. Albany (6-10, 5-3 Six Rivers East) cut the Vikings' lead to 10 points late in the third quarter on Devin Deegan's layup.

"It was just too big of a hole to dig out of it," Doescher said.

The Vikings used a press to their advantage in the second half forcing turnovers. Albany junior Tyler Dahl scored a team-high 26 points and Deegan added nine points.

"We just had too many turnovers, and when you turn it over that many times you are making a nightmare for yourself."

Barneveld 58, Juda 44

BARNEVELD - Juda opened the fourth quarter trailing by just six points in an upset bid of Barneveld.

With a 42-36 lead entering the fourth quarter, Juda put themselves in a position to win on the road. The Eagles outscored the Panthers 18-6 in the fourth quarter to win 58-44.

"We have had a lot of games where we have played 3 1/2 quarters," Juda coach James Pickett said. "We are close to getting over the hump and winning those close games. Our defense let up late in the fourth quarter and they took advantage of our mistakes. We had some turnovers in the fourth quarter that led to transition points for them."

Barneveld's Brycen Sorensen scored a game-high 21 points and teammate Matthew Myers added 14 points.

Juda senior Cory Segner scored a team-high 19 points and sophomore Matt Schmitt added 14 points.

Juda (5-11, 2-5 Six Rivers East) made 8 of 13 free throws compared to just 2 of 4 for Barneveld.

Monticello senior Ben May scored a game-high 27 points to lead the Ponies.

"We came out in the second half in a 1-3-1, and they never had an answer for it," Argyle assistant coach Bob Lawinger said. "We made a lot of free throws down the stretch - 22 of 28 for the game. And the fourth quarter, we went 12 of 14. We iced it on the line.

"We stayed with the 1-3-1 in the fourth, but Ben May was just phenomenal. He made four 3-pointers, and I'd say all of them were with people closing on him. He's just an amazing shooter."
