BLANCHARDVILLE - Pecatonica took two games from Black Hawk in a Six Rivers East doubleheader 20-4 and 9-2.

Taylor Berg grabbed his wonderbat for the set of games, finishing with two doubles and two homers on the day.

"Taylor had a big first game," Pecatonica coach Jim Strommen said. "We shifted the lineup a bit and moved him from the 3-hole to the leadoff spot. Nobody was getting on base in front of him, and he had just two RBIs. It worked out well."

Berg was 4 for 4 in the opener with a double, two homers and five RBIs. He hit a 2-run shot in the second and added a 3-run shot in the third. Pecatonica led 6-0 after two innings and an 11-run fourth inning put things over the top.

The Vikings had 16 hits and got big contributions from J.J. Hogan, who was 3 for 3, Ross Gilbertson (2 for 3, two doubles) and Michael Becker (2 for 3, double).

Pat Mahoney, Mike Walker and Aaron Monson each had two hits, with Walker and Monson drilling doubles.

In the second game, Mike Walker threw six innings, striking out five and walking three. Walker was also 3 or 3 at the dish with a double. Hogan went all seven for Pecatonica with six strikeouts and no walks.

"J.J. pitched well. He scattered his hits and the no walks was huge," Strommen said.

Pecatonica hosts a four-team tournament today. The Vikings will play Dodgeville at 11 a.m. in Blanchardville, with Mineral Point and Highland playing in Hollandale at the same time. The two winners will play in Blanchardville at 1:30 p.m. for the championship and the losers will play at the same time in Hollandale.
