PATCH GROVE - Coming off a loss last week against Darlington, the Pecatonica -Argyle Vikings wanted a win against conference rival River Ridge.

They got it, winning 24-21 on a fourth-quarter field goal.

Despite the fact the Timberwolves led in first downs and dominated in rushing yardage, the Vikings came away with the win.

Pec-Argyle's Lee Vlasak carried the ball 15 times and picked up 126 yards. Vlasak had all the rushing yards for the Vikings in the game.

The one category Pec-Argyle led was passing yards. Quarterback Milton Kurschner completed 4 of 10 passes for 36.

But it was River Ridge that was able to move the ball on the ground with great success. The Vikings gave up 268 yard on the ground.

From the opening of the game it was clear that Friday's game was going to be exciting as the teams traded leads throughout the first half.

River Ridge returned the opening kickoff 83 yards for a quick 6-0 lead.

Then it was the Vikings' turn.

Zach Zradicka took the Timberwolves' kickoff 80 yards to tie the score and after Josh Hendrickson added an extra point the Vikings were ahead by one.

Still in the first quarter, River Ridge retook the lead on a 5-yard run.

The Vikings got their second touchdown on the ensuing kickoff as Andy Bohlman raced 88 yards to put the Vikings ahead.

A field goal and another touchdown put the Timberwolves ahead 21-15 at the half.

The second half belonged to the Vikings. Kurschner carried the ball in from 1-yard out.

With just over three minutes to play, and the score tied at 21, Hendrickson kicked a 23-yard field goal to seal the win.
