Pec goes the distance in regional opener

BLANCHARDVILLE - Pecatonica prevailed over Belmont on Tuesday in five games in one of the most exciting first-round regional volleyball matches in the state Tuesday night.

The Vikings needed a big rally and a long second game to win 16-15, 31-29, 19-25, 25-13, 15-11. They will play at the Barneveld Division 4 Regional top seed, Potosi, in a semifinal Friday.

Brittany Kent had 10 kills, Elizabeth Ihm had three blocks, Kimee Chandler slammed three aces, and setter Morgan Pien dished out 14 assists in the win.
