Pec goes 1-1 at own tourney

BLANCHARDVILLE - Pecatonica took third place at its own tournament on Saturday, beating Highland in the consolation championship 15-5 in five innings.

Nate Borcherding pitched all five innings for the Vikings in the win.

Highland scored all five of its runs in the first inning, of which just two were earned.

Pecatonica scored one run in the first, five in the second, four more in the third, three in the fourth and two in the fifth to cap the mercy-rule win.

Taylor Berg continued his hot streak for the Vikings at the plate, finishing 4 for 4 with three doubles and five RBIs in the win.

In the first round, Pecatonica lost to eventual champion Dodgeville, 8-2. Kevin Swenson took the loss on the hill, surrendering five earned runs.

Tannar Johnson and Ross Gilbertson drove in runs for Pecatonica.
