ALBANY - Junior A.J. Hendrickson was 4-for-4 from the free-throw line in the final 30 seconds to help the Pecatonica High School boys basketball overcome a strong challenge by Albany 66-62 and remain unbeaten in the Six Rivers East Conference.
Hendrickson led all scorers with 28 points. He was 7-for-7 on free throws in the game.
Senior Tyler Dahl paced Albany with 27 points, including 15 in the first half to boost the Comets to a 33-29 advantage.
Pecatonica coach Derik Doescher said it was a "game of runs."
Albany trailed 21-11 halfway through the first half and then used a 14-0 outburst to grab a 25-21 lead.
The Comets (6-4, 2-2) led by nine points with about 9 minutes to play.
"Unfortunately for us, Pecatonica made the final run and came out of here with a big victory," Doescher said.
Freshman Colton Schraepfer added 12 points for Pecatonica, including one 3-pointer.
Albany got 12 points from junior Logan Ross and 10 points, including three 3s, from senior Josh Little. Junior Brock Gilkes made two 3s.
Argyle 55, Monticello 39
ARGYLE - The Orioles rallied past the Ponies to score their first Six Rivers East win of the season.
Monticello led 26-24 at halftime.
"Overall, in the first half, we didn't do a good job of moving the ball and getting it inside," Argyle coach Justin Jenson said, "and we improved on that in the second half."
Argyle senior Riley Ostby led all scorers with 16 points, including the Orioles' only two 3-pointers in the game. He had 13 points during the Orioles' 31-13 run in the second half.
Senior Will Herman added 13 points for Argyle (6-3, 1-2), and junior Mitch Dammen had eight.
"Herman had a heck of a game," Jenson said. "It was kind of a breakout game for him. It was nice to see him have that success. "And Dammen continues to work his butt off inside and makes our team a heck of a lot better."
Sophomore John Errthum paced the Ponies with 12 points. Junior Zach Price added 10, including two 3-pointers.
Barneveld 50, Juda 38
BARNEVELD - The Panthers had Six Rivers East Conference co-leader Barneveld on the ropes early on.
Juda senior Peter Bouc scored eight of his team-high 10 points in the first half as the Eagles led the Panthers 28-26 at the half. Juda's Keagen Haffele also had a strong first half, scoring seven of his eight points.
The Eagles outscored the Panthers 22-12 in the second half to pull away for the win.
Juda junior Matt Schmitt and sophomore Cole Fortney each chipped in seven points.
Barneveld's Bryce Arneson and Mike Zonski each scored a game-high 11 points.
Beloit Turner 69,
Brodhead 67 (OT)
BRODHEAD - Beloit Turner's Ronny Galvin scored a team-high 21 points to lead the Trojans over Brodhead.
Galvin scored five of the Trojans' eight points in the extra session, including a key 3-pointer.
Senior Ned Slocum scored 26 points to lead the Cardinals.
Brodhead made twice as many free throws (18 of 28) as the Trojans attempted (9). Slocum was 6 of 15 from the free-throw line, including 2 of 4 in overtime.
Brodhead's Justice Tway added 15 points, and Parker Johnson chipped in 12 points.
In other action, Belmont defeated Black Hawk 56-41, and Darlington beat Southwestern 63-47.
