ORFORDVILLE - The Albany girls basketball team was tested in its season opener.
The Comets fell 63-30 to Orfordville Parkview in the season-opening game for both teams Tuesday.
"Orfordville was very good," Albany coach Mike Brunhoefer said. "I think in the first half they (Albany) were intimidated and nervous."
Parkview outscored the Comets 19-7 in the first quarter and built a 24-point halftime lead, 36-12 and cruised from there.
Brunhoefer said the Comets did better in the second half.
"I knew going in they (Parkview) were picked to win their conference," Brunhoefer said. "Either them or Brodhead. We had our hands full. We couldn't compete with them. They ran the floor well."
The Comets were led by senior Nicolette Blumer, who scored a team-high 10 points. Tiffany Thompson added 8 points.
