OREGON - The Monroe Cheesemakers had one more chance to get one more conference victory Tuesday, but fell short against the Oregon Panthers. Oregon turned back the Cheesemakers, 25-16, 25-17, 25-23 to close out the Badger South regular season.
Senior Sarah Kloepping contributed on the offensive side for the Cheesemakers with eight kills and senior Abby Jacobson chipped in with 10 assists. Sophomore Becca Armstrong also gave Monroe an offensive lift with four aces and helped out on defense with two blocks.
"We played well at times," Monroe coach Dave Gersbach said. "Our defense was solid and we had some nice digs. We scarmbled to contain the ball and put it away. Our attacking was a little bit off tonight."
Monroe ended the regular season 1-11 in the Badger South and will open the WIAA Division 2 regional quarterfinals on the road Tuesday.
